George Clooney to direct film based on Nick Davies’ Hack Attack ∞
George Clooney and Nick Davies should make a perfect combination. I can’t think of a better director to dramatise Nick’s story on screen. George has long been interested in shining a light on the (lack of) ethics of the press – and also on how journalism can be noble and good too.
George’s father, Nick, was a journalist and George almost followed in his footsteps. It’s the career that never was, but could have been.
Equally, Nick swaggers around in leather jackets with a deep affection for the film ‘All the President’s Men’ – so it is fitting that there should now be a big Hollywood film crediting his own heroic journalism. (The Fifth Estate just didn’t do Nick Davies’ character justice, so let’s not count that one).
What would complete this dream team? Hopefully Ryan Gosling is working on an English accent as I type.
