Mansour Omari Interview
It was a privilege to interview the courageous Syrian human rights defender Mansour Omari for the latest edition of New Humanist. Mansour featured in the documentary that I made with Sara Afshar, Syria’s Disappeared, and it was incredible to catch up with him now, following the overthrow of the Assad regime. He talks about finally having a homeland, the relief of no longer having to advocate daily for the release of political prisoners, but also what it means to confront the devastating number of lost lives and the vital struggles for justice which remain.
This edition of New Humanist is about democracy coming under attack worldwide and the fight back. We can take inspiration from Mansour and other Syrians who struggled for their freedom despite deadly consequences.
