The Solway will premiere at Hay Festival Winter Weekend
I’m thrilled The Solway will premiere at Hay Festival Winter Weekend on Friday 27th November and that the film’s director, Eamon Bourke, will be in conversation with the renowned psychotherapist and author Julia Samuel after the screening. We’ll also have folk duo The Brothers Gillespie with us to sing the film into the world.
It should be a magical launch, amidst Hay’s twinkling Christmas lights, at a time of year when we hug our families close and remember those no longer with us.
I’ve poured my heart and soul into co-producing this documentary over the last few years, which is both a celebration of love and family and a moving meditation on grief and memory. Whilst the film was shot in the Lake District, it was edited and produced close to Hay-on-Wye, making this sharing extra special.
Elsewhere on the Winter Weekend, I have the great honour of speaking to Humza Yousaf about his book ‘Under Fire’, which recounts his efforts to get his family out of Gaza whilst facing the challenges of leading Scotland.
I’m also chairing an evening event exploring female pleasure, sexuality and desire with three incredible women: Emma-Louise Boynton, Kate Lister and Erika Lust.
